This conversation explores pregnancy and infant loss, traumatic birth experiences, postpartum grief, and the emotional weight Black women may carry before, during, and after pregnancy. Together, we will examine how grief can shape identity, relationships, and mental health, including the grief that can exist alongside the joy of welcoming a healthy baby.
The discussion will also consider the losses that often go unnamed, the ways medical settings can support or deepen harm, what families may misunderstand about grief, and what meaningful care from providers, loved ones, and communities can truly look like.
